Legacy Architects Vision:
The ultimate vision with Legacy Architect is that all intake form data ("Client Details") and design form data ("Client Decisions") live in one organized place in the client's contact record.
The intake form is meant to ask only the first pass of questions that only your client or prospective client knows the answer to, and questions that do not require them to make any decision. For example, the intake form asks about marital status, children, assets, etc. These questions all have preexisting answers that your client is simply providing to you; these questions do not require your client to make any decisions, such as who to name in a specific fiduciary role.
Providing the name and contact information of a person who might be named somewhere (anywhere) in their estate plan is considered part of "Client Details" – something they already know.
Saying a specific person should be in a specific fiduciary role is considered part of "Client Decisions" – something your client decides on during the design discussion with you.
So where do you name fiduciaries? Indicate will vs. trust? Indicate a Clayton or disclaimer trust? Note that residuary beneficiaries' shares go outright or in a lifetime asset protection trust?
All of these questions are answered in the contact record under the Plan, Incapacity, and Guardianship tabs. Both you and your client have access to these fields and can each add and save data/decisions anytime.
Upcoming features to support the vision (not fully released):
The Plan, Incapacity, and Guardianship tabs are under development. As of now, you can see these tabs in the contact record and check them out for your familiarity. Consider these tabs in "sandbox" mode for now meaning you are free to check them out but do not use them as the only source of design selections for now.
To see all the fields that ultimately will be on these three tabs, refer to our Design Form Templates in google doc format. Everything you see on these templates will be incorporated into Legacy Architects.
If you do not ask certain design questions that you see on the templates, you will have the ability to "hide" those questions from the contact record.
Workaround:
Treat Legacy Architects like an online intake form and client portal for now. Your contacts can login securely, husband and wife each have their own access to the same contact record and information, and both you and the client can upload documents for secure file sharing.
Use our design form templates to guide your design discussions with your client.
Use our complimentary service to compile everything your clients input into Legacy Architects and everything you note on the design form, and our team is happy to prepare an Estate Plan Summary for your client. This is free of charge.
